2020 U.S. Championships Postponement

U.S. Championship and U.S. Women’s Championship are Postponed

The premier events on the annual US Chess calendar will be held later in 2020 due to COVID-19 concerns; Hall of Fame events also affected.



Due to the recent spread of the COVID-19 and out of an abundance of caution, we have decided to postpone the 2020 U.S. Championships, scheduled for April 9-23 at the Saint Louis Chess Club.

Regulations & Format

 The 2020 U.S. Championship shall be a 12-Player tournament paired as a Round Robin. 

2020 U.S. Championship

The 2020 U.S. Championship is an elite national championship event, featuring 12 of the strongest chess players in America. Over the course of eleven rounds, these competitors will battle for $194,000 in prize moneyand the coveted title of 2020 U.S. Champion.
